Club C2K sues to block closing
Las Vegas, NV: In a lawsuit filed late Thursday afternoon, Club C2K is seeking to block The Venetian's effort to close the popular nightclub. The nightclub, located within the resort, closed Wednesday following a dispute over compliance with the terms of its lease. In a July 6 notice of default, The Venetian faulted C2K for what the resort described as "current, ongoing and seemingly endless safety and security problems." In an Aug. 9 reply, the nightclub's operator, Silver Hammer of Nevada, said it had taken significant steps to address the problems alleged in the lawsuit. "Silver Hammer has promoted and built a top-flight nightclub in a short period of time that is arguably the most successful nightclub in Las Vegas," Silver Hammer wrote. According to the lawsuit, The Venetian subsequently demanded that C2K vacate the premises, and the nightclub closed Wednesday. "The Venetian did the right thing. The C2K nightclub will remain closed.
